Take advantage of the End-User Policy Reminders feature in Surfwall Remote cloud service

Omniquad has enhanced its leading managed web filtering service, Surfwall Remote, to include Policy Reminders. This feature allows IT managers to require end users to periodically agree to the company Acceptable Usage Policy (A.U.P.) before Internet is accessed. The reminders can be shown at weekly, monthly, quarterly or custom intervals.

The reminders let organisations communicate their web policies to employees easily, and help present them in a more transparent manner. Whenever the policy reminder is displayed, the end user simply needs to click on the ‘Agree’ button to proceed with their web browsing. Policy Reminders build up on the Temporary Exclusions feature.

Omniquad introduced a new feature to its Surfwall Remote cloud web security service – the end user can now self-request or self-authorise access to a site that would be normally blocked – for categories where it is deemed appropriate by the IT manager.

For example, the company policy may normally block access to Streaming Music sites for all employees -however some users, from time to time, have genuine reason to access these sites. The new Surfwall Remote feature allows the end user to request access to such site directly from the blocked page, get authorisation immediately and proceed without any further interruption. The IT manager can then decide in his or her own time whether such exclusion should become permanent – otherwise it will revert back to the default “blocked” setting after defined period.

Temporary Web Exclusions are certainly more suited for some categories than others – typically IT manager wouldn’t for example want to allow them for Gambling sites. But where appropriate – and the IT manager has the full control here – they make the web policy enforcement more fluid and let everyone get on with their job little bit easier.

Omniquad launches new E-mail Encryption Service

New E-mail Encryption Service from Omniquad allows organisations to send and receive secure e-mail without the need for any additional on-site software or hardware.

Integrating with Omniquad's hosted e-mail security service Mailwall Remote,the Encryption Service offers policy based as well as end-user control over which messages are encrypted. Policies can define individual senders,recipients or domains as well as content or attachments.

The service allows email recipients to access confidential messages using a secure portal, rather than having the emails delivered directly to their mailboxes. The recipient can also use the portal to reply to messages securely, maintaining a secure conversation thread.

These new encryption features are available in addition to traditional method of securing traffic such as boundary-based protection using Transport Layer Security (TLS).
