Spam volumes have more than doubled over past two years. This has resulted in lost man hours, increased email management costs, bandwidth costs and storage woes to name a few.
What is even more startling is increase in phishing attacks. Apart from all the indirect costs that a spam message brings to your organization; a phishing attack can cost you thousands of dollars in direct damage. Globally - average damage caused by a phishing attack is calculated to be approximately $1200. This is again an understated figure considering the anti-phishing efforts of security companies. Another important finding in this quarter is increase in image spam. A whopping 30% of the total spam mails are image spam. Omniquad has developed Optical character recognition and Image Trap technology to identify and recognize all such image spam mails.
